Sandpipers at Southport may be forced to close when rules come into effect on November 11th requiring staff to be Covid-19 vaccinated.

This is a huge blow to Revatlise who have several centres around the UK offering respite for people with disabilities.

    Statement from Revitalise:

Mandatory vaccine is ‘crippling social care sector’ say care provider Revitalise, now facing staff walkouts and possible service closure

Charity is on verge of losing significant proportion of staff and faces closing one of their centres due to ‘no jab, no job’ compulsory vaccination law.

Specialist respite breaks providers Revitalise are pleading for Government to rethink a law making it compulsory for all care home staff to get the COVID-19 vaccination, which they say is deepening the staffing crisis in social care.

The charity, whose services are a lifeline to its guests, is set to lose 29% of its overall staffing complement in one centre alone should it adhere to the new mandatory vaccination policy, which will come into law on 11th November 2021.

Revitalise CEO Jan Tregelles said:“For Revitalise and for the care sector, the mandatory vaccination policy will, if implemented, have devastating consequences.

Throughout the first, second and third waves of the pandemic, my brilliant and dedicated colleagues have successfully cared for some of society’s most vulnerable through rigorous infection control measures and the use of PPE, often sacrificing time with loves ones to do so. Now, we are having to tell them ‘no jab, no job’.

At a time when Revitalise is already dealing with staffing shortages, five longstanding colleagues are subject to consultation because they do not wish to be vaccinated and another 7, who have had the jab, are so outraged that they are threatening to resign in protest.

To be clear, this is not because my colleagues wish to put our guests at risk, it is because they believe in their human right to bodily integrity and because they know that the measures that we already deploy keep our guests safe. They also cannot understand the logic of the regulations, which will not apply to residents or their visitors, nor to NHS workers. The Government have stated that it is in consultation with the NHS, but such proposals are unlikely to come into force until spring 2022, after the winter period. It simply does not make sense.

Without these colleagues, we may have to close our centre – putting the rest of the charity under threat. We are not alone; care home providers up and down the country are facing the same, impossible position.

I therefore urge the Government to think again about the mandatory vaccination law and work with care providers to ease, not exacerbate, the staffing crisis, to seek more balanced ways to encourage vaccination take up and to consider a range of different measures to ensure that care workers and the cared for, are looked after safely. Otherwise, they will be crippling a social care sector facing the worst staffing shortages in history.”

For 57 years, Revitalise has provided respite care breaks to a huge range of people. These are a vital lifeline to so many unpaid home carers and their disabled family members.

surly the staff are the people that threaten it with closer due to them not wanting to get the vaccine in order to protect the visitors ?

which is disappointing as Revitalise is a place close to my heart

Agreed. It's not the policy that is at fault but those who refuse the vaccine. I listened to the reasons for refusal given by the manager on TV news and struggled to find a coherent argument. But fine, if you want to exercise your personal choice be aware that there are consequences. Why anyone who works in health care thinks their 'freedom' to choose beats the 'freedom' of others to be safe baffles me.

"they believe in their human right to bodily integrity"

How many of these people smoke cigarettes? Have you seen the crap they put into those cancer sticks.
How many of these people has partaken of illegal substances - Cannabis, cocaine or ecstasy - Do they know what goes into them?
How many of these people have had a jab to allow them to travel - Yellow Fever for instance

"vital lifeline to so many unpaid home carers and their disabled family members."

Does Revitalise ask their residents if they'd want someone looking after them who hasn't been double jabbed, where are their rights?

AND finally, what excuse are these people going to have when the vaccine actually gets FDA approval.....

Paragraph 10 to be clear .
Why don’t residents and visitors have to have the jabs?, would this stop folk wanting care in these establishments ?, do you think half the NHS staff will leave the job if they have to have the jab?. Why are there so many top nurses and doctors taking to social media to say the jabs aren't tested, safe or approved and that they see first hand many people having major complications after having it. The government are making big efforts to silence this and re affirm the rhetoric about how the jabs are safe, why is it that posters that have had the jab and accept that it’s a freedom of choice then go on to poo poo those that haven’t saying that they are stupid, dangerous and often violent anti Vaxers and gang up on those with differing opinions?. I have seen stories of folk in hospital dying wishing they had the vaccine and stories of those who are hospital ridden because they have had it and wished they hadn’t , I am not in the habit of believing heresay OR the government or their statistics.
The fact that no one knows the long term affects and if it works for a year or a lifetime or at all worries me, I don’t know one way or the other what to believe …. I really don’t .

How many millions, vaccinated with little or no side effects, will it take before you agree that the benefits out weigh the risks by a wide margin?
Have you been innoculated against measles, polio, smallpox? 'Cos when was the last time you met a person with any of those diseases? Any you do meet will be those idiots who allow such diseases to get a foothold in the population by not being vaccinated when they have a chance.
It comes back to consequences.... don't have it but don't complain when you get the sack.

Like I say I really don’t know, I haven’t met or heard of anyone who has been vaccinated twice against measles and then got measles or any other vaccine that was invented a year ago and hasn’t been time trialed or approved and trusted over time yet given to millions as a best guess for those who have taken it out of fear or blind trust to be calling those who haven’t stupid.
I am not for or against, I like I said really am not an authority on the subject one way or another, I can only wonder what percentage of NHS staff that deal with this have actually had the vaccine and how many would just simply leave the job altogether if they were forced to, and could this be why it hasn’t been made mandatory for NHS staff to date even, did you know while most had to isolate after returning from abroad lately, NHS staff could come back into the country and go straight back to work, back to the ward bedside as they are exempt from quarantine restrictions, that’s as mad as those who are extremely clinically vulnerable being exempt from wearing masks in shops, in both cases the rules seem backward to me. Hey but I am an idiot ..

Think a little, when all these widely accepted vaccines first came in to use, guess what they were new vaccines at the time, over years their safety and usefulness has been confirmed to everyone’s satisfaction.

Faced with a dangerous and infectious virus would you recommend waiting a good number of years before using that vaccine, sure the COVID vaccine has been developed and used very quickly, but it was and still is our best option, in truth we had little other options, apart from hoping it would die down, so called “herd immunity” developed, before large numbers of people died.

My son worked at Revitalise as a volunteer for some time. He like a great many others refuse to have a vaccination. This order reminds me of Josef Mengele. Can you explain why a vaccination for a mild virus takes precedence over vaccinations for serious viruses that are far more damaging? There are so many variants not having a remedy - what happens then? Can you also explain why, when a healthy person has an excellent immunity system needs to put foreign bodies into their bloodstream that would cause their immune system to activate immediately and leave them open for any other potential diseases? Can you also explain just why a vaccination for this virus is necessary when a common cold could also cause the death of the immune weakened elderly? Have all the eldely been vaccinated - so why should a carer need to be vaccinated? It is against a person's natural human rights for anyone to order an invasion on a person's body, this is called GBH! - it is not a choice, it is a right! The elderly are at more of a risk from a vaccinated carer than they are when breathing in fresh air.

You are right over years of trials and many years of use these vaccines have been deemed satisfactory, you ask would I recommend waiting a good number of years for proper trials of a brand new completely never tried vaccine that at best is a guess if it works or is dangerous in the long run and is the subject of controversy from the educated and the ignorant alike, well again I wouldn’t know what to recommend as I am not an advisory service or have a clue what to make of it all. Even those that manufacture it are at loggerheads with the governments roll out plans that seem to me to be a make it up as you go along, but take no notice of me I am just a div do what you thinks best, believe what you want I don’t judge you whatever you think cos I have no idea and that’s the point I am trying to make .

No I get it this virus is new and wicked it can and will kill anyone there are elderly that are being clapped back home and children that are dying it’s indiscriminate no one is more likely to die than another , yea I get the idea that a Vaccine is needed to blanket protect all folk young and old, I get that ..
